Jim Barton Construction (JBC) is a locally owned and operated family business with over 45 years of industry experience specializing in basement waterproofing solutions, drainage systems, concrete construction, and foundation repair. We also offer commercial snow removal. Our goal is to provide high-quality concrete construction services that will meet and exceed our client's expectations. As a premier concrete construction contractor in southeast Iowa, JBC can provide services including, but not limited to: basement waterproofing, foundation and crack repair, concrete foundations, drainage systems, driveways, sidewalks, patios, stamped concrete, and more! JBC did an excellent job replacing our west basement wall to our specifications. We live in a 2-story house built in 1920 and the west basement wall was made of old ceramic blocks that had cracks and was bending inward and looking like it would collapse soon, even though it had been braced with steel I-beams at some point. When it rained a lot, the water would flow through the wall like a waterfall, because the grade from the west is higher than on the east side of our lot. We had a structural inspector evaluate the wall and he recommended replacement with an 8" thick poured wall 6' high and topped with 2 rows of cement block. Not an all-cement-block wall because it wouldn't be strong enough for the hydrostatic pressure. We talked with 5 other contractors before finding JBC and they were the only ones who said they not only knew how to do a poured wall, but also had years of experience doing it. And they showed us a house similar to ours that they were working on so we could see how they do it! There were several obstacles to deal with: The main electrical box had to be moved to the interior wall, some old pipes had to be removed, the stairway into the basement had to be removed and then replaced with a new one when the wall was done, and the old west door would need to be removed and replaced with a shorter door to allow for a better grade away from the wall. JBC took care of all of these sub projects, whereas other contractors had said we would have to arrange our own subcontractors to handle these things. The JBC crew is top-notch, focused and efficient. And Ryan kept us informed along the way as to what they would be doing and when and he explained things clearly whenever we had questions. They had to work around several rainy days, so the project took longer than expected; but understandable since the weather doesn't always cooperate with plans. We definitely recommend JBC, and we would also like to get the east wall of our basement replaced by them in the near future.

From the time I requested an estimate to the completion of the job anytime we had questions all we had to do is contact JBC and they were prompt. We were having a leak in our foundation whenever it rained, Ryan came to our home to witness the leak the same day we contacted him for an estimate. Within a few days we had the estimate, within 2 wks the work began and everything was complete within a month of our original contact. Thank You JBC/Ryan & crew, we definitely recommend them.
